1.  California Imagined: The Arts of the Golden State Conference in Sacramento, September 18 & 19.
The Center for California Studies / California State University, Sacramento will present its 20th Annual Envisioning California Conference on Thursday, September 18 to Friday, September 19 at the Sacramento Convention Center in downtown Sacramento.  Read more...

2.  AB 2471 Digital Arts Studio Partnership & Workforce Program Act passes Senate Appropriations Committee.
This bill, until January 1, 2013, would establish the Digital Arts Studio Partnership and Workforce Program (DASP) to train youth in digital technology skills. It would require the program to be administered by the Governor's office according to specified criteria and subject to the availability of funding for that purpose. It would require the office, as the host agency for the program, to contract with a nonprofit corporation meeting prescribed criteria to implement the program. Read more...

3.  Take Action:  Urge your member of Congress to support The Travel Promotion Act.
Travel spending in California is $84.1 billion and contributes $13.2 billion in tax receipts.  Most travelers will include a cultural, arts, heritage or historic activity when vacationing.  Cultural tourists spend more and stay longer, yet the Travel Industry Association reports that there has been a significant decline in overseas travel to the United States through 2007. The Travel Promotion Act HR 3232 will address America's overseas travel crisis by establishing an independent, nonprofit corporation to operate a nationally coordinated, public-private campaign to communicate improvements to America's travel procedures and invite travelers to visit the U.S. Senators Boxer and Feinstein have already co-authored S 1661; urge your Congress member to support HR 3232.   TAKE ACTION!
