Re: ACR 234 (Firebaugh) State investment in arts and culture

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:

California Arts Advocates represents artists, art organizations, and Californians who support
the Arts. Its membership is a broad spectrum of budget sizes, arts disciplines, diverse cultures, audiences and regions.

When a segment of California's citizenry contributes significantly to the economy, education and lifestyle of our great state, it is only fitting that our public servants recognize, applaud and support the efforts of that group of dedicated citizens.

There are more than 89,000 arts-related businesses in California employing over 516,000 Californians and serving 36 million Californians and countless visitors to the golden state.  All of them deserve serious consideration by state legislators and policy makers when making decisions that will make a better California.  A better California includes a world-class art and cultural environment.

The California Arts Advocates and its members strongly urge you to sign ACR 234.  If there are any questions, please feel free to call our legislative advocate, Ms. Kathy Lynch at (916) 443-0202.

Sincerely,

Lisa Caretto
Legislative Chair
